Intruders at 10 O’Clock High

Filed under: general — admin @ 09:26 am

This am before 10am a pair of mature Peregrines came over  the Cathedral and were hotly Chased off by our pair. Mum quickly returned to the nest but the last I heard Dad was still  not back from the chase. Thanks to Pete from the RSPB for the information when I hear the final outcome  I will post it on the Blog. However all looked good on the nest as I wrote this.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Filed under: general — admin @ 08:42 am

Dad sat for hours on his favorite ready meal turret. He had a very full crop so had obviously had a crafty meal, and then perhaps settled down to watch the out come of the premiership on his wide screen TV on temporary loan from the RSPB. Any way what ever the reason he seemed to have taken the afternoon off. After several failed attempts to provide a meal Mum finally came up trumps and caught dinner herself. All seems fine on the nest as the chicks continue to grow.

Trying so Hard

Filed under: general — admin @ 08:09 am

Dad provided well all day today, but as we got to the evening Mum was very vocal and very pro active. It can’t have been lack of food as he came in with at least four meals during the day. Mum did finally chase away the seagulls that were coming just a shade too close, and then went back to the nest. The chicks look to be doing fine and growing very quickly.

Dads Hard at Work

Filed under: general — admin @ 12:20 pm

Lunch time today and Dad was doing all the work. Feeding the chicks while Mum watched. It was such a good view on the web cam and you could see so easily that there really is a big difference in size. She is so much bigger than him and it really showed well. Now she has taken over the feeding, but good to see Dad so involved.

Trying His Luck.

Filed under: general — admin @ 08:53 am

Dad keeps having a go at the pidgeons around the Cathedral. We always use to say he rarely has a go at them but this year time and again he seems to try his luck. Yesterday he tried again but the lucky pidgeon with a beak full of nesting materials minus a few feathers got away. When she demanded food for her Chicks he always seems to have a ready meal up his sleeve which quickly makes him very popular again. This am there have been great views of the Chicks on the web cam.
